Phuket

Thailand offers great variety and at Prima Holidays, we have a lot of experience with trips to this paradise of the Swedes, focusing on vibrant Bangkok and dreamy Phuket in Southern Thailand

Welcome to Phuket, this lovely Swedish favourite that has put Thailand on the map.

Travel to Thailand’s most popular holiday island with Prima Holidays, a tourist magnet full of great offers. Discover beautiful beaches, scenic bays, coral reefs, great markets, intense entertainment and a huge selection of fantastic hotels – from handpicked downtown hotels at the best location to romantic resort hotels with the crystal blue sea as the nearest neighbour. Phuket is just under five kilometres long and two kilometres wide, yet it is Thailand’s largest holiday island – with a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The way we see it, it is almost impossible not to love the pearl of Asia.

Phuket is located in Phang Nga Bay, which is full of excursions, beautiful beaches and idyllic islands. For example, the island of Ko Tapu, where a James Bond movie was partly filmed. Most famous is perhaps Ko Phi Phi, two islands whose nature is depicted in most tourist brochures. Here you can easily take an excursion boat from Phuket harbour. But in Southern Thailand, there is of course much more to experience – everything from fantastic nature experiences to shopping and entertainment.

Flights to Phuket

You can buy airline tickets to Phuket with departures from most major airports in Europe. Direct flights can be found, but many departures require one or two layovers. Once you arrive you’ll be at Phuket International Airport (HKT), which is approximately 32 kilometres from the center of Phuket.

Transfer

There is a minibus service from the airport in Phuket if you manage to fill up the bus. Otherwise, there is a taxi from the airport. Prima Holidays also offers transfer as an option when booking your trip. For a lot of hotels, you can choose between a private taxi or shuttle bus.

Getting around

Phuket is a “big” island and there are buses available during the day. Many destinations require you to go by taxi or tuk-tuk (three-wheeled motorcycle taxi).

Good to know

Most European nationals do not need a visa to visit Thailand if you stay for less than 30 days. A 30-day tourist visa is automatically issued upon arrival to passport holders from visa-exempted countries.  Please check if this includes you and your travel group when planning your visit. For travel to Thailand, you must have a valid travel document in the form of a passport, and the period of validity must be at least 6 months. Travelling from Sweden, there are no requirements for vaccinations for entry into Thailand. Make sure you also have valid and good travel insurance.

Safety

Thailand is not a dangerous country to travel to but keep track of your valuables, especially on buses, boats, trains and hotel rooms. Phuket international hospital tel: 0 76 24 94 00. Emergency tel: 076-21 09 35. Tourist police tel: 16 99, police tel: 191.

Southern Thailand is really an experience where you both get a great variety and a lot for your money. Travel here with Prima Holidays and we are there for you before, during and after the trip. Welcome to Phuket and Prima Holidays.
